Miami leads with 9,400 units, followed by Hialeah with over 2,000 units, thanks to its location, low land costs, and development-friendly government. A developer plans to redevelop 19 Hialeah houses into an eight-story, 580-apartment building with retail space and a parking garage. The City Council will consider rezoning 4.66 acres to transit-oriented development. Nearby, SP Developments also plans 612 apartments. Some residents, fearing gentrification, oppose the redevelopment, citing concerns over the neighborhood’s history and culture.
